She has enough grief as it is having to suffer a SEXUAL ASSAULT. So, if you want to argue the ethical ramifications of anything, take it to the proper subreddit and let this person reccover without turning it into a Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC debate. I would say it regardless of if the punishment was imprisonment for an obscenely short amount of time in prison, corporal punishment, or death. So in context, "Regardless of punishment," was/is/always will be saying focus on herself and her healing. I'm talking about a victim, a person who was hurt, and helping them mold themselves into a survivor so they don't develop one of the psychological problems those of us were raped so often suffer. Hence even now guilty priests will be protected, because anything else threatens the status of all of them.Īgain, i'm not talking about the attacker or how he was punished. Anything else is a challenge to their entire world-view as taught down through centuries of the aforementioned entrenched special status. ![]() So even if they vehemently hate that their fellows have committed these crimes, they still want them protected from the secular world and dealt with internally. They don't want to have to acknowledge that they're merely citizens of a nation and so are subject to its laws and its systems. So, to them, 'different' and 'special' = 'better'. And (of course) they have an entrenched special status in society. Even if they acknowledge the awful nature of these crimes, there's something about the role of 'cleric' that makes clerics place themselves apart from the hoi-polloi. ![]() If you want to see a part of it, suggest to a faithful Catholic priest that other priests accused of abuse should absolutely be tried, convicted if guilty and then punished accordingly, all within the secular criminal justice system. I will never be able to understand why/how the catholic church cares more about a sick demented fucking priest more than the safety and well-being of children.
